‘Romenesko’d’: Dan Bloom’s musical obit for ‘snail’ newspapers—or at least his op-ed about it

For the op-ed page and Web site of the Providence Journal, my friend Dan Bloom wrote partly about his song honoring old-fashioned newspapers, aka ”Snailpapers.”

He confessed that not everyone loved this “musical obit,” as ex-Washington Star gossip columnist Diana McLellan dubbed it.

Lo and behold, however, Danny’s Journal op-ed drew a link from Jim Romenesko’s popular newspaper blog on the Poynter Institute site.

Meanwhile, somewhere along the line, Dan has invented or discovered a neologism, “Romenesko’d,” as in: “Wow, Jim Romenesko linked to my oped piece in the Times today, first time that ever happened! Can’t wait to tell my friends that I’ve been Romenesko’d.” The Urban Dictionary has even picked up the verb.

Now if only I can get Romenesko, a Wikipedia-level VIP at the least, to mention The Solomon Scandals and SolomonScandals.com.

Would use of a certain name help, and I don’t mean “Solomon” or “Rothman”?
